Wouldn't it be something?

Wouldn't it be something if Microsoft or someone else would come out with a version of Windows or another operating system that was simple? I mean, really simple?
So many people start up their computers to search the internet for something and check their email and that’s all they want! Why should they be subjected to countless unwanted menu items and icons that mean nothing to them and are only in the way, causing headaches and frustration?

Linux is certainly not the answer! With all of its’ OPEN source, which is open to only those who are true geeks in every sense of the word, (Ever try to install QuickBooks on Linux or anything else for that matter?) it certainly is not easy!
I for one would like to see an operating system with about four icons on the desktop! One for a word processing program like the free openoffice.org, one icon for the internet, one icon for email and one for a few uncomplicated accessories like media player, calculator and address book.
Why does every operating system Microsoft produces have to be more and more complicated? Why is it that every time the processors advance in speed, does Microsoft believe instead of having a faster system, we need more to bog it down with more complicated code, processor heavy services and ridiculous graphics that awe and amaze?
I just want an operating system that does the simple things, allows me to run a few programs like QuickBooks and won’t crash every ten minutes because it is trying to fade the menu to start a stupid program!

I once put Windows 98 on a system with a dual core processor. It was so fast it made your head spin! With all that processor capacity and memory, it started and ran the programs extremely fast and stable, too! The only problem is that if you try to run Windows 98 most of the programs you buy must have Windows XP or better to install!

Can't we just have simplicity and SPEED?
How about that Microsoft?
